Soft ground and a longer trip look ideal for Westerton at Doncaster

Soft ground has been a pain for Alan all season, with most of the Barbury team excelling on a good surface, but underfoot conditions at Doncaster today ought to be ideal for Westerton, who makes his handicap debut in the mile and a quarter handicap.

Following two promising runs at Doncaster and Haydock last summer, Westerton improved for tackling an extended mile in the mud at Nottingham in October, finishing an encouraging second.

Westerton has since been gelded, and with today’s extra two furlongs being a plus for this Belardo individual, we hope he’ll be right there in the mix, though obviously after his winter break he’ll improve for whatever he does on Town Moor.
