Three wins in less than 12 months for the syndicate of owners – Believe It and now you can!
December 2
It is just short of 12 months since Believitanducan won for the Owners Group 140 at Newbury when carrying the syndicate’s lilac colours for the very first time, and at Plumpton yesterday the four-year-old gave them a third success when landing the two and a half mile handicap hurdle.
Sitting on the tail of eventual runner-up trailblazer Bourbali throughout the second circuit, Believitanducan ranged alongside the leader turning for home, and, though untidy when taking a definite advantage at the final flight, he was always doing just enough on the run-in, winning by a length and a quarter.
Tom Bellamy, delighted to be back in the winner’s enclosure just 48 hours after he was “wiped out” on The Doyen Chief in a farcical standing start to the Coral Cup, was all smiles afterwards.
He said:”That was a good performance. I think the step up in trip helped Believitanducan improve, and he appreciated this slower ground on a track which would have been sharp enough for him.
“He did not get away from the second last too smartly after that mistake two out, and momentarily I thought we might be in trouble, but when the other horse came back at us my fellow stuck his neck out and he was always holding him on the run-in.”
In just six races for the Owners Group, Believitanducan has now won three races and been placed in two others, so no wonder the enthusiastic syndicate were grinning from ear as they all went off for a celebratory glass of champagne with the sponsors.
And hopefully we might be able to get more of our syndicates of owners happy on Thursday, with Uhtred Ragnarson aiming to follow up last month’s Warwick success when he runs again for the Alan King Racing Club in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle, with Philip Armson on board, while at Wincanton the same day Midnight Rumble, carrying the colours of the Let’s Get Ready To Rumble Partnership, drops down in grade again for the finale, in which he looks to have an each-way shout with Tom Bellamy in the saddle.
