Trueshan returns in the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot tomorrow

We are looking forward to Ascot tomorrow, when Trueshan makes his seasonal reappearance in the G3 Sagaro Stakes, in which there will be no complaints from our quarter about the prevailing soft ground.

Trueshan, who was a disappointing favourite in the race 12 months ago, has only four opponents, and three of them – Coltrane, Quickthorn and Sweet William – are old friends. So fingers crossed our evergreen eight-year-old can finish off what has been an exceptionally wet April in style.

Alan said:”Since you last saw Trueshan at Ascot on Champions Day, he has been back to Ben Brain for an MOT. Ben felt that he would benefit from a similar procedure to which he had last year, a slight tweak of the soft palate.

“It worked well last time (Trueshan won both the Doncaster Cup and the Prix du Cadran), and I hope it will do so again. He has been working with Edwardstone and seems in good form for his return.”

Our other runner tomorrow is Rakki, who jumps up in trip when running in his first handicap in the finale at Kempton’s evening meeting.
