Vivid shines brightly at Market Rasen

Vivid Pink made her first start in 229 days a triumphant one when running out a clear cut winner on her return to action in the ABP Ports Of Hull & Goole Handicap Hurdle.

Last sighted opening her account over hurdles at Huntingdon in November, the daughter of Sea The Stars added to that success with victory in the extended two and a half mile prize.

Held up early doors by Tom Bellamy, the seven year old mare made smooth headway approaching the fourth last before mounting her challenge at the penultimate flight.

Once sent on before the last Vivid Pink quickened away well up the run in before going on to score by eight lengths.

Bellamy said: “It was a great start to Vivid Pink’s season. The boss said she will probably come on for the run. For a hot-headed filly she is quite a burly, round to look at sort of horse.

“To be fair she did take a good blow on the way round, so to win, and to win very well, in spite of that was a very impressive performance.

“She is settling better now in the first half of her races so she is giving herself chance to see it out. Her jumping has improved all the time and she will eventually jump a fence. It is great to see the horses all running well so long may it continue.”
