We are in action at Huntingdon and Southwell tomorrow

By my reckoning Dino Velvet has run on 26 difference racecourses, but for his 56th race the popular veteran will be breaking new ground tomorrow when he heads off to Huntingdon.

Dino Velvet has only won once over fences, at Uttoxeter two years ago when he defied a mark of 120. However, the handicapper now shares the general view that the 10-year-old is not the force he was, as following two inauspicious runs this spring he has been dropped 10lb. He has six opponents tomorrow, so, hopefully, the generosity might bring about a revival in the old boys’ fortunes.

Also in action at Huntingdon are Saturday Song and Broomhill Road. Saturday Song ran well at Uttoxeter and Doncaster before disappointing at Exeter, where he ran too free. He looked in good order when I saw him work last week. Broomhill Road, who is only four, never gave up the battle when chasing home a smart older horse in Willmount at Doncaster on his debut, and he will know more about the game with that experience behind him.

Theonlywayisessex, though out of the money, was only beaten two lengths at Lingfield last time, and he returns to Southwell, where he won two months ago. Hollie Doyle rides.
