Yanworth, whose one blip last year came in the Champion Hurdle, in which he started favourite, makes the transition to the larger obstacles when running in the Beginners’ Chase at Exeter today.
It looks like being a no-win situation for Yanworth, who will start long odds-on, but Alan is looking forward to his trip down the M5. He said:”I have been pleased with Yanworth’s schooling, as has Barry Geraghty, who came over recently to pop him over a few fences.
“The horse will come on for his first run back, but he is ready to start and Exeter is a lovely track to get a novice chaser rolling – galloping with soft ground, so, hopefully, all will go well. We’ll get this first race out of the way before we make plans, buy ultimately I see Yanworth more as a two and a half to three mile horse than a two-miler.”
